THRUPIECE ABROAD: SKETCHES FROM KENT & EAST SUSSEX 1996-2002 flipped™
Generously sponsored by the DHRA this far from comprehensive and only very partially representative sample of the late Professor Brian Thrupiece's artwork appears before the public for the first time. Published by well known coffee-table stable The Threadbone Press Art Division (Art for Arts's Sake) it has more than 20 pages of fine reproductions of works from the Professor's experimental (1996-2002) period when, in addition to searching for his own artistic persona, he was also searching for his spectacles. Experts believe that this alone may explain some of the appalling lapses of taste starkly recreated here.
The volume is available as a hardback, paperback, digital download and flipbook™. Individual prints can be ordered from the The Threadbone Gallery & Coffee Shop, Fishbond Bottom.
THREADBOURNE: A MOST NOBLE FAILURE flipped™
Generously sponsored by the DHRA Wensley Cranchock's definitive history of the now forgotten seaside resort of Threadbourne: Threadbourne: A Most Noble Failure, will excite historians worldwide as at last the untold story is told. Founded by Adolphus T Threadbone as the schoolroom and playground in which the upper middle class could relax whilst polishing their aura of natural superiority, Threadbourne predates the more demotic efforts of entrepreneurs Billy Butlin and Fred Ponting by several decades.
Now renamed and catering for a very different clientele, Threadbourne was once the jewel in the crown of the English Riviera and the place to go for the 30s and 40s pre-jet set. Assembling for the first time graphic art images of the resort which offer telling insights into the once fashionable resort's purpose and appeal, this handsomely illustrated account fills a much needed gap in the literature. It features a highly informative running commentary on the many images as well as a foreword by Mrs Amanda J Threadbone, Adolphis T Threadbone's great great daughter-in-law.
Threadbourne: A Most Noble Failure is the ideal companion to Thrupiece Abroad which was also sponsored by the DHRA and published last year.
The volume is available as a hardback, paperback, digital download and flipbook™. Individual prints can be ordered from the The Threadbone Gallery & Coffee Shop, Fishbond Bottom.
ERIC FISHWICK: AN APPRECIATION flipped™
Written by esteemed musicologist and financial claims expert Dr Stanton Fisher, Eric Fishwick: An Appreciation is the first in depth
account of this elusive and surprisingly un-influential composer. Beginning with his early life in West Yorkshire, Dr Fisher magisterially reconstructs - from diverse sources - the story of Fishwick's life during and after the First World War, his encounter with the major European composers of the day and his startling collapse into near total silence for more than 30 years following the emigration of his elder sister Sissy to Lancashire. Charting with great sensitivity the composer's compositional struggles as well as the relationships of his maturity, this bold account also locates Fishwick's political activities in the context of his turbulent times, troubled boyhood and gritty working-class origins. Especial attention is devoted to the genesis of the late work "Wortley Hall": perhaps his orchestral masterpiece. Dr Fisher's magisterial reconstruction of its origins and germination provides us with the most convincing account yet of the sudden burst of creative activity which followed his visit to West Dorset in 1958.
Eric Fishwick: An Appreciation is the ideal companion to the composer's music and a must-read for those intending to purchase the greatly anticipated recording of his two major works (A Yorkshire Symphony and Wortley Hall) due from Deutsche Grammophon and Hornimint Records later this year.
The volume is available as a printed paperback, digital download and flipbook™.

CAMBRIDGE SUMMER flipped™ by Arthur Maddingly
Cambridge Summer is a coming-of-age novel which tells the story of a single summer experienced by a young boy displaced from his Dorset home and separated from his parents and siblings when he is sent to stay with widowed Aunt Iphigenia. Why he is thus displaced and what tragedies and intrigues lie behind his singularly haunting and beguiling tale is the focus of the book's finely-wrought plot. Original reviewers opined that only a man steeped in science and tempered by a life in academia [its author was a pupil of renowned Cambridge don Dr Kenwood Chefe] could have attempted such a tale.*. Graced by an Introduction by none other than Press supremo Mrs Amanda J Threadbone, Cambridge Summer is, according to Dorset Summer Reads Magazine set to be "the read of the summer".
