THRUPIECE ABROAD: SKETCHES FROM KENT
AND EAST SUSSEX
Generously sponsored by the DHRA this far from comprehensive and only very partially representative sample of the late Professor Brian Thrupiece's artwork appears before the public for the first time. Published by well known coffee-table stable The Threadbone Press's Art Division ("Art for Arts's Sake") it boasts more than 20 pages of fine reproductions of works from the Professor's experimental (1996-2002) period when, in addition to searching for his own artistic persona, he was also searching for his spectacles. Experts believe that this alone may explain some of the appalling lapses of taste starkly recreated here.
The volume is available as a hardback, paperback, digital download and flipbook™. Individual prints can be ordered from the The Threadbone Gallery & Coffee Shop, Fishbond Bottom.

ERIC FISHWICK: AN APPRECIATION
Written by esteemed musicologist and financial claims expert Dr Stanton Fisher, Eric Fishwick: An Appreciation is the first in-depth account of this elusive and surprisingly un-influential composer. Beginning with his early life in West Yorkshire, Dr Fisher magisterially reconstructs - from diverse sources - the story of Fishwick's life during and after the First World War, his encounter with the major European composers of the day and his startling collapse into near total silence for more than 30 years following the emigration of his elder sister Sissy to Lancashire. Charting with great sensitivity the composer's compositional struggles as well as the relationships of his maturity, this bold account also locates Fishwick's political activities in the context of his turbulent times, troubled boyhood and gritty working-class origins. Especial attention is devoted to the genesis of the late work "Wortley Hall": perhaps his orchestral masterpiece. Dr Fisher's magisterial reconstruction of its origins and germination provides us with the most convincing account yet of the sudden burst of creative activity which followed his visit to West Dorset in 1958.
The volume is available as a printed paperback, digital download and flipbook™.
